After several weeks of cover up, the crisis in the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC over the composition of its Presidential Campaign Council, PCC, has blown to the open.
The APC National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu has accused the Party's 2023 Presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu of stoking trouble in the Party by breaching the agreements reached in the composition of the Presidential Campaign list.
In a letter titled: Release of the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council Listing, which africafirstnews.com obtained a copy, Adamu pointedly lambasted Bola Tinubu for non recourse to the National Working Committee, NWC which he heads for final approval before making it public.
The APC National Chairman stated that, instead of the release of the PCC list pleasing members of the Party across the line, it had rather created bad bloods, just as its release was ill timed.
Adamu in the letter reminded the Party's Presidential candidate of an agreement they reached that the organogram of the PCC and its composition must be a collaborative effort, but which according to him has obviously been violated, urging Tinubu to immediately withdraw the list in the interest of peace and harmony within the Party.
The former Nasarawa State Governor cautions the APC Presidential candidate that he must respect established boundaries and acknowledge the contributions of all stakeholders, if the 2023 elections are to be won.
Adamu further warned in the letter that the APC National Working Committee, NWC believes that any sign of disarray in the Party was capable of undermining the spirit and ethos of the campaign and send undue alarm to those he referred to as faithful members and followers of the Party across the country.
Signs of major disagreements and a deep crack in the campaign machinery of Nigeria's ruling party, began to manifest ahead of the September 28, 2022 date for the official commencement of political campaigns when the Director General of Tinubu/Shettima Presidential campaign Council on Monday, 26th September 2022 announced the indefinite postponement of the campaign activities which was originally slated for Wednesday.
Sources who are of the know of the high level meetings and happenings in the APC told aficafirstnews.com that at the root of the latest crisis is what is being suspected a total-control political game being played by Tinubu who is seen as single handedly picking those to serve at strategic position in the PCC structure.
Our Source who choose not to be identified revealed that even those around President Buhari, who is supposed to be the leader of the Party are not comfortable with the way Tinubu is going about the appointment of the people to serve in the PCC and other positions in the campaign team.
He claimed that even names specifically nominated by the President himself to be given particular positions in the PCC list were jettisoned, noting that the Presidency was beginning to be worried over happenings.
