The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential candidate in Nigeria's 2023 general election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar who is currently visiting the United States of America has held high level talks with senior US Diplomats at the US State Department in Washington DC.
The closed door meeting was attended by Molly Phee, the Assistant Secretary in the US Bureau of African Affairs; Karl Fickenscher, Acting Assistant, Administrator USAID; Scott Busby, the Acting Principal Deputy, Assistant Secretary
Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labour (DRL) and Michael Heath, a Deputy Assistant Secretary,
Bureau of African Affairs.
Others on US team were; Brian Neubert, the Director, Office of West African Affairs; Skye Justice, a Deputy Director, Office of West African Affairs; Toby Bradley, Deputy Assistant Secretary,
Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) as well as Christopher Landberg, the Principal Deputy Coordinator, Bureau of Counterterrorism.
Also at the top diplomatic meeting were; Stanley Brown, Principal Deputy, Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of Police-Military Affairs (PM): Anna Shpitsberg, Deputy Assistant Secretary,
Bureau of Energy Resources (ENR); Eric Meyer, Deputy Assistant Secretary, United States Department of the Treasury; and Whitney Baird, a Principal Deputy, Assistant Secretary, Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs (EB)
On the Former Nigerian Vice President and the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar's entourage were; former Senate President Bukola Saraki; Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State; former Imo State Governor, Emeka Ihedioha; Nigerian broadcast media mogul, High Chief Raymond Dokpesi, among others.
A source at the meeting told africafirstnews.com that no cameras were allowed during the interactions.
