PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGNS: Lafia Hosts "ObiDients"
*As LP Is Denied Access To Stadium

The Labour Party (LP) Presidential candidate and former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Gregory Obi on Saturday officially flagged off his 2023 presidential campaign in glamour at Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital, with hundreds of thousands of supporters who commonly refer themselves as "ObiDients" taking up every available space at the venue.

Obi who stormed the campaign venue with the Labour Party Vice Presidential candidate, Professor Yusuf Datti Ahmed were reportedly denied access to the Lafia Township Stadium where the rally was originally billed to hold, but the thronging crowd moved to a make shift open field.

In what was more of a carnival, the massive crowd of Obi-Datti loyalists who attended the mega rally sang and chanted,  "Obi kere ke", a sing song popular with the "ObiDients", according to a source who described the campaign flag-off rally as largely successful.

A well known Nigerian social activist and musical artist, Charles Chukwuemeka Oputa popularly known as Charly Boy shared a post on his official Twitter page alleging that the Labour Party was denied access to campaign in the stadium in Lafia, Nasarawa State, adding that they later had to make use of an open field.

Nasarawa State in the North Central region of Nigeria is controlled by the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), which is yet to refute the claim that the Labour Party and her Presidential candidate were locked out from using the State government owned Lafia Township Stadium for its campaign rally.

The Police is equally silent on the Labour Party's claim of being denied access to the original campaign venue.
