The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) will introduce newly designed Naira notes on 15th December, 2022.
Governor of the Nigerian apex bank, Godwin Emefiele made the announcement at a special News briefing broadcast Live on the country's major Television channels this Wednesday, at the CBN headquarters in Abuja.
The Naira notes to be redesigned are the; N200, N500 and N1,000.
The circulation of the new notes will begin from December 15, 2022 after a presidential launch.
The old notes will remain valid until January 31, 2023.
The CBN directs that all holders of the current notes in circulation to begin returning them, immediately.
Meanwhile, all Bank charges for cash deposits have been suspended.
