EBONYI 2023 GUBER RACE: Anyichuks Hits Nwifuru

A war of words may be brewing in Ebonyi State as political campaigns begin to roll -off ahead of the 2023 general elections, after the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Dr. Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii popularly called AnyiChuks, accused the candidate of the ruling Party, All Progressives Congress (APC), Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonnaya Nwifuru of sponsoring a "fake news" against him.

A statement issued in Abakaliki by the Director, Media and Publicity of the AnyiChuks Grassroots Support Organisation, Chief Abia Onyike which africafirstnews.com obtained a copy, alleges that the said media publication linked to those working for the Ebonyi State House of Assembly Speaker and the governorship candidate of the APC, is a figment of the imagination of the social media fabricators.

Onyike says the news in circulation purports that, the PDP Governorship candidate, Dr Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii is now working for APC with a view to be offered the post of Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, so as to bring his business associates to invest in Ebonyi State.

The statement further explains that, "These  merchants of falsehood also claimed that there was a meeting between Dr Odii and the APC Guber candidate, Hon Francis Ogbonnaya Nwifuru at Oriental Hotel, Lagos, where the deal was sealed."

Describing the publication as very laughable, the AnyiChuks Grassroots Support Organisation Spokesperson wants people of Ebonyi, especially the supporters of the PDP governorship candidate to note that there is no iota of truth whatsoever in the trending fake news.

Onyike in debunking the said news publication categorically denied any kind of meeting between the PDP Governorship candidate, Dr Odii and the APC Governorship candidate, Hon. Nwifuru or anyone else to discuss what he called "such mundane issues".

"Dr Odii is a man of principle, character and integrity. He cannot be cajoled into acts of mediocrity and surrogacy. He is a man who cannot start what he cannot finish", the statement argued.

At the time of filing this report, the Media office of the APC governorship candidate and Speaker of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Francis Nwifuru was yet to respond to the contents of the Press release by the PDP camp.
