ALLEGED N7BILLION FRAUD: Sen. Oduah Has A Date In Court
The Senator representing Anambra North Senatorial zone, Stella Oduah, three other accused persons and four companies are to be arraigned before a Federal High Court on February 13, 2023.
The lawmaker is to face a 25 count charges bordering on money laundry, misappropriation and fraud while in office as the country's Minister of Aviation.
Justice Inyang Ekwo fixed the date when the case came up this Wednesday, after the prosecution counsel, Hassan Law an (SAN) presented a letter from the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami directing the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFFC) to proceed with the prosecution of the case.
The letter dated October 11, 2022 indicates that investigations into the alleged financial crime had been concluded.
Senator Stella Oduah, a serving member of the Nigerian Upper legislative chamber and seeking re-election in the 2023 polls, is being accused alongside Gloria Odita, Nwobu Nnamdi, and Chukwuma Chinyere of misappropriation, money laundry and abuse of office involving over N7billion.
The four companies to be also arraigned are; Global Offshore and Marine Limited, Crystal Television Limited, Sonora International Limited and the China Civil Engineering Construction Company Limited.
africafirstnews.com recalls that hearing on the N7billion Aviation fraud case had been stalled for about six times before now, due to the absence of Senator Stella Oduah who is the first defendant.
Following the latest development, Justice Ekwo has adjourned to February 13 to 17, 2023 for definite trial.
