Gunmen Abduct Benue Commissioner, 3 Others.

The Benue State Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Ekpe Ogbu, has become the latest victim in a wide scale incident of kidnappings in Benue State, in the predominantly Christian parts of the North Central region of Nigeria.

Ogbu was reportedly hijacked alongside Honourable Agbo Ode, one of his in-laws and the driver (whose full identities could not be ascertained at the time of this report).

Sources in Makurdi, the capital of Benue State revealed that the victims were attacked and kidnapped at the notorious Adankari junction, along the Otukpo - Ado Road while on their way from Otukpo to Utonkon in Ado Local Government Area of the State.

The Adviser to Governor Samuel Ortom on Security Matters, Paul Hemba has confirmed the incident, though the Police is yet to respond to enquiries.

It is gathered that the official vehicle which the abducted Commissioner and others were travelling before the attack, had been recovered from the scene and taken to the Divisional Police office in Otukpo.

A security expert has described the Adankari Junction as a notorious black spot for kidnap activities in Benue State with at least three deadly kidnap incidents recorded there in a matter of weeks.

A Catholic Reverend Father, a Professor of the Benue State University, and a local politician from Otobi, were all kidnapped at the same junction on different dates.
