The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Iyorchia Ayu was conspicuously absent at the Benue North East Senatorial campaign flag off of his home State Governor, Samuel Ortom, instead attended the Atiku - Okowa Presidential campaign rally in Akure, Ondo State.
The Governor Ortom Senatorial campaign kick off was held at Gboko, the traditional headquarters of the Tiv people of Benue State which incidentally is the home Local Government Area of the PDP National Chairman, who is having a deep political disagreement with the Governor.
Despite Ayu's failure to attend the rally, Governor Ortom is sounding confident that he will get an overwhelming support of the electorate in Gboko to emerge winner in the 2023 senatorial election.
Addressing Party supporters at the JS Tarka stadium, Gboko, Governor Samuel Ortom who rose through the political ladder as; a former Local Government Council Chairman, the National Auditor of a Party, a former Minister of State for Trade and Investment, a one time Supervising Minister of Aviation, and current Governor of Benue State, asked the voters to access him by his past records of services.
The PDP candidate is beating his political war chest, counting on what he termed his avid stand in the defense of his people from ethnic cleansing and take over of their ancestral lands by invaders, assuring them that he would continue to speak out for them if elected into the national Parliament.
