There are still chances that the internal crisis that is rocking Nigeria's major opposition political Party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) may still be resolved following a position taken by the G-5 Governors led by Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike at a meeting with Governor Bala Mohammed in Bauchi on Wednesday.
Governor Nyesom Wike alongside Governors Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia State), Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu State) and Samuel Ortom (Benue State) who were at the Ramat House, Bauchi told Journalists that their doors were still open for reconciliation with the national leadership of their Party, the PDP.
Of the five (5) Governors of the PDP opposed to the leadership of Ayu and routing for his sack, only the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde was not at the Bauchi meeting.
Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike who spoke on behalf of the G-5, said as members of the PDP they were in Bauchi to fraternise with the Governor and to discuss other challenges regarding his reelection bid, explaining that his group has not closed the chances of reconciliation.
Governor Bala Mohammed who appreciated his colleagues for the visit and concerns expressed during the closed door meeting, said he had spoken extensively with the PDP Presidential candidate regarding his challenges and hopes that all the issues would be resolved.
The visit of the G-5 Governors came a day after Governor Bala Mohammed had met with the PDP Presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar in his Abuja residence, less than 24 hours after the National Chairman of the PDP, Dr Iyorchia Ayu; the PDP Vice Presidential candidate and Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa; and the PDP Presidential Campaign D-G and Governor of Sokoto State, Rt. Hon. Aminu Tambuwal had equally paid a visit to the Bauchi State Governor.
