The Police in Owerri, the Imo State capital has uncovered a shallow grave at the back of a cooking gas plant located on the Toronto/Road Safety by MCC Road, Owerri, where the body of a 36-year old lady, identified as Joy Uchechi Nwachukwu was buried.
Joy, who reportedly left home for work at a cooking gas servicing station, never returned home, prompting her relations to report a case of missing person to the Police.
With preliminary investigations out, the Imo State Police Command spokesman, Michael Abatam issued a Press statement detailing how detectives from the Police Headquarters found a shallow grave at the back of her workplace, where the victim was buried after being brutally murdered.
Abatam revealed that Joy, who doubled as the Secretary and Cashier of the Gas Plant, may have been killed because of the significant role she played in the managing of the company, as the owner of the gas plant who resides outside the country is said to have entrusted the business in her care.
According to the PPRO, detectives while searching the vicinity of the company, had spotted blood stains on the wall at the back of the cooking gas station, from which a trace led to the discovery of the shallow grave in which a shovel, a cutlass and the decomposing body of the deceased were buried.
The Police spokesman in the statement notes that operatives reasonably suspect that the two items (shovel and cutlass) recovered in the shallow grave would have been the weapons used by the attackers in killing the victim.
At the time of filing this report, two suspects have been arrested and are undergoing interrogations, while another two, are said to be on the run.
Already, the Police has evacuated the remains of the victim and deposited it at a hospital mortuary in the area for autopsy, while calling on the people to remain calm as the murderers would be brought to book.
