The Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice John Tsoho has taken extra administrative measures to ensure the quick determination of all suits bordering on the coming 2023 general elections in Nigeria, so as not to be cut up by time.
To this end, Justice Tsoho has constituted a Special Task Force team of Judges to swiftly hear and determine all pre-election cases pending before Federal High Courts across the country.
The directive is contained in a circular signed by the Assistant Director of Information of the Federal High Court in Abuja, Catherine Oby, which explained that it became necessary to designate a Task Force team of Judges for the purpose following the large volume of pre-election suits that are still pending at the various Courts.
The Chief Judge also directs in the circular that Judges who are members of the Task Force will suspend all regular cases in their respective Courts, focus on pre-election matters due to the urgency of the electoral cases, which are time-bound.
Justice Tsoho noted that the Judges on the Task Force, will have four weeks within which to dispose of the pre-election cases and return to their normal duties.
